Help
TekNap's help style is modeled on the unix-style man (for manual) pages. DOS also has some help facilities, diminished after DOS 6.11. TekNap's help is invoked in the same manner as old DOS, beginning by typing /help, then the subject which you wish to study. The help covers hundreds of topics but does not lend itself easily to following related topics as you might do with hypertext links nor does it teach by topical articles. This was much of the inspiration for many people to write their own TekNap help websites and indeed, for this TekNap wiki.

Aliases
An alias is basically a user-created command to add to TekNap's functionality or to simplify a series of frequently repeated tasks by making one command to do them all, much like creating a macro in other types of programs.
Library of Aliases
The Library of Aliases is a growing repostitory of user-supplied aliases.
Don't worry if an alias you've written has been duplicated by someone else; aliases are pretty common. If you see one that's similar to yours, feel free to add yours as a variant to the same page. Comment as necessary.
If there is an alias with the same name as yours you can either alter the name of your alias or include it on the same page as that alias - again, comment as necessary. DO NOT remove existing aliases or move them to another page - there is room for all, no matter how proud you are of your own alias, or how much you think someone must've "stolen yours" just because it is identical or similar. A LOT of people will end up creating the same-named alias to accomplish the same task! If you know the author of an alias you have, feel free to credit them. Acknowledgement of authorship or contributor is nice, but not required.
Along with your alias, add a link to it on the Library of Aliases page and a link to the Library page *from* your link. If your page is not precise, don't worry - this isn't rocket science!
You can paste this link near the top of your alias page:
Alias Library
Aliases should have links to them like this example:
The FIND alias link looks like this: find Your alias will be on a page with that style of name. If you decide to name your alias "puzzle" you will create a page called Alias:Puzzle. Links to it look like puzzle on the edit page, and like
puzzle on a displayed page. How to do this is covered on the Alias Library page.
Color
TekNap makes use of a screen which is able to interpret various mark-up codes to render text as bold, inverted, colored text and colored backgrounds, etc. It can both send and receive in colors through several mechanisms. The ansi standard provided for early sixteen-color displays, by mixing combinations of the red, green and blue color guns and varying the intensity as either normal or intense.
This is a rather complex subject which is usually glossed over. The casual TekNap user can find some ready made scripts and aliases to be of help for sending color, while more intense discussion will hopefully be presented to further your understanding of how it works and how it's viewed by TekNap and other clients.
See Especially: The cparse function, the Tips and Tricks page and the section on colored aliases.
SkyyTek has contributed his page about color with TekNap.
